Typical Days, Atypical City

My days typically consist of working on my computer in the mornings.  Each day I start with ACI making sure that everything is up to date.  I then follow with my personal business and of course, Chino Basque Club.  This has been no different in New York…nor did I expect it would be different.  My duties structure my day and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  This week was exceptionally difficult because I just went through a good 10 days of minimal work and on top of that it was time to get the CBC newsletter out.  Nevertheless, I managed to take a walk every afternoon.  I realized that Target is located within a half mile from me in Tribeca and that the Post Office is a 10 minute walk and not far from the Stock Exchange—another 10 minutes.  What I most look forward to however is my afternoon snack time.  Every day around 5 p.m. I go to the Rooftop Patio at the Hotel.  I take my snacks and a Diet Coke, typically play Gin Rummy on my iPAD or listen to a podcast.  It is exceptionally serene and beautiful.  It is still hard for me to believe that I am here, but…I am and I have NO regrets!

Here is a major drawback.  This is the perfect spot to take in the view with a glass of wine or drink in hand.  NO ALCOHOL ALLOWED.  HUH???  There is also no glassware allowed.  I know this because shortly after this photo was taken someone walked up to me and traded my glass with a plastic cup.

Although no one is there watching all the time, they do come around checking from time to time.

The perfect place when someone comes to visit and yet lacking.  How are we going to get around this???
